RODANTHE PIER COLLAPSES INTO THE ATLANTIC

The older wooden piers have long been a staple of the OBX of North Carolina and the same goes for the small town of Rodanthe. Rodanthe is a small town on Hatteras Island in the heart of the North Carolina Outer Banks. The pier is a frequent spot for vacationers and locals. The pier was recently hit hard in December by a Nor'easter as well as a winter storm in February and on February 12th, 2015 the end of the pier finally gave way to the Atlantic Ocean. The owners of the pier are planning to rebuild the end of the pier with a completion date of March 28th. The pier does have insurance, but it only cover the pier house and not the actual pier so there has been a Go Fund Me page set up to help raise money to fix the pier.
